Training dogs is so frustrating! but it IS possible, no matter how stubborn your dog can be. I've trained 2 dogs and i'm in the middle of training 2 more without professional help of any sort (except treats). The key is repetition and persistence. chose a keyword or command, practice it everyday or as often as possible, and do not give her any treats or praise until she gets it right. (fun fact, dogs can learn between 150-300 commands) if there's a way to show her, try that (for example, for 'down' or 'lay down', try bending down a bit and pointing to or touching the ground or floor). in an instance where you're trying to house-train, time-out works pretty well, i've found. make a loud sound when you catch them going potty in the house (you HAVE to catch her or she won't know what she did wrong and you can't punish her.), and immediately take them outside. if they pee outside, they get a treat. if the don't, put them in a small area in your house (like, just big enough for them to be able to turn around and lay down and stuff) for 15 or 20 minutes, then take her outside again, and the cycle continues until she goes to the bathroom outside. a really big and helpful way of getting your dog trained though, whether it's peeing in the house, or just teaching them commands for obedience and showing off (like getting her to hold a treat on her nose), is associating treats with good behavior and listening and responding to commands, and time-out and not getting any treats to bad behavior, etc. if she gets bored with dog treats, you can try some human foods, like maybe a small piece of chicken or bacon.. my dogs like everything- cheetos, cheese, cookies, any kind of meat... just find something she LOVES and never turns down, and go from there =) hope this was helpful.. any other questions, let me know ^-^

I have tried for the past two and a bit hours to take this ring out and replace it with a stud (as i have prom in two days) and it just wont budge! Why did my dog suddenly start barking and growling at me?

i've had my dog for a year now and he's always loving and playful but today he was out in the garden and i went to take out the recycling and he was stood on the path with white saliva like foam around his mouth. No it really does. Atleast wait 2 months to change it out. Plus if its not the same gauge as what you have in, it will shrink to that size and will be hard to get it back if needed.

Yes, you can get tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears, from exposure to loud music. I have it from listening to my iPod all the time and now I can't sleep without a fan on or something because the ringing is so obnoxious when it's all you can hear. I'm constantly asking people what they just said and they get pretty annoyed with it. If you go to gigs like that constantly, than you will notice your hearing decreasing and the constant ringing. I'd say it's not worth it.

Yes the nose ring should go the whole way through to the inside of your nose. Mine has a hook hanging out of the inside my nose to hold it in place if that makes sense. Maybe you should get it repierced?

Most likely, your not allergic. I have many pierings [ears, nose, tongue, eyebrow, lip, and belly button] and i am HIGHLY allergic to metals. What it sounds like to me is you probably have sensitive skin and that causes more itchy-ness when piercings heal. When i got my nose done, it itched like crazy, and after some research, i found out its just healing and im sensitive to it. Dont worry, unless you have redish/purple around it, its really swollen, hurts alot, or has alot of puss. its ok :]

Personally, I would suggest getting a piercing, and I say this because I started out with a piercing first and if I felt the need to take it out I could easily replace it with a clear retainer. Unlike a tattoo, you of course cannot do this if you regret it unless you're willing to pay $100-$1,000 for removal. I had a lip piercing once, snakebites actually, and didn't like it much because I had too much attention drew to me, but at least I could take it out. BUT, the hole didn't close up completely, so now I'm stuck with a permanent hole in my lip. The only reason I don't suggest the tattoo is because of the pain. I have a foot tattoo, and the pain was excruciating, but it sounds like the better option IF you don't want a hole stuck in your lip forever. Both of them have their consequences, so at the end of the day, it's your ultimate decision.

Hello everyone. My name is Peter, I'm 23 years old. Recently I've been diagnosed with aortic insufficiency due to a leaky heart valve. My cardiologist told me it's really nothing to worry about since I'm young and fairly asymptomatic. Recently though I've noticed that my stomach pulsates, I can feel it when I press down firmly quite strong, and I can see it also. I know this can be normal because I'm very thin (I'm around 60 kg). I've also had some sporadic stomach pains all over and been passing lots of gasses recently so a combination of all that got me worried. I've mentioned the pulsating to my doctor but he didn't think nothing about it, didn't even bother to check it out, he just said you're thin its normal. I usually have lower than normal blood pressure, around 100/60, and these past few weeks have been stressful for me, and I'm really embaressed to go to my doctor again in fear he might just think I'm a hypochondriac since I've been having visits almost twice a week for a month now.

I'm playing on the Xbox 360 and my Turtle-Beaches PX21's have the chat and game volume at maximum and they are very quiet, the sound keeps fuzzing and then going quiet and then loud again. The cord that is plugged into the controller is secure and is attached firmly to the headsets "remote", the headset is plugged into the back of the t.v. and has the USB plugged into the Xbox. I have the newest black Xbox 360 with 250GB hard drive. It was working fine earlier I haven't banged it or thrown it. Has anyone had this happen before? If they have and they fixed it let me know!

My right ear has been swollen ever since I stopped stretching?

I stopped stretching my ears and took out my 0g plugs in January. I remember experiencing problems with my ears once I stretched to 0g such as bleeding, swelling, crust, and pain. So I decided to take out my plugs and return to normal ear piercing size. My left ear has healed perfectly fine and I could wear hoops and heavy earrings but my right ear is still swelling to this very day and it hurts when I wear heavy earrings. I left a stud in my right ear for about a week and started cleaning it with a q tip dipped in alcohol but it doesn't seem to be helping. It also seems to be secreting discharge from the hole. Any tips on healing? I tried going to the doctor but it didn't really help.

How to get a large puppy to stop sniffing/ pulling like a freight train?

I had this same exact problem with my dog and used the harness and stubborn thing still pulled too my next solution was to get a leader. This is like a harness that fits like a muzzle almost. You put it on them attach it to the collar and put their leash on in the middle of the part that connects it to the collar. Basically what this does is it turns his head every time he pulls. He may still try to but he'll stop on his own. When we put this on my dog for the first time it was like walking a whole different dog.

Infecteda tragus piercing?

Well I got both of mine done in mid May, and for a week mine were never swollen until randomly one would swell up so bad for no reason and then go down. But they could be sore because they take what seems like forever to heal. My piercer told me that with any cartilage piercing you should expect that "white" stuff because that means its healing. The blood could be from changing the piercing multiple times, my tragus does the same thing when i accidentally hit it or lay on my side wrong while sleeping. But whatever you do, don't take the piercing out because if it does happen to be infected, it won't be pretty. Just keep doing the warm sea salt soaks and rotate the piercing to make sure you get the sea salt water inside the hole. And also wash with antibacterial soap when in the shower. That seems to help with all piercings. Try to keep your hair away from it and wash it thoroughly to make sure that your shampoo or conditioner doesn't affect the healing process anymore. (:

My one year old hits, bites, pinches, and scratches! HELP.?

My one year old (well, hes almost 15 months) likes to hit, pinch, scratch, and bite. Oh and pull hair. I've tried everything. I tried time out, didn't work it absolutely did not bother him to be in his crib or playpen for a minute. I tried slapping his hand at first (I DO NOT do this anymore since obviously I made it worse by teaching him to hit). I've told him firmly no, shook my head no (which he associates with no pretty well) he just either laughs or hits again. I've tried seriously everything. Nose piercing is irritated?

I got my nose pierced about 4 months ago. I changed the nose screw stud earlier today and later on I decided I wanted to put a hoop in. I got it into the hole but I couldn't get it to go in any farther. I know the piercing is irritated but when will I be able to attempt changing to a hoop? (I put the stud back in) And does anyone have any tips for getting a hoop to in easier?

Why is there a lump inside my earlobe?

I got my ears peirced for the first time 11 weeks ago. I took out the original studs after 6 weeks. I have been able to wear straight post earrings no problem, and about a month ago I tried putting in earrings that are curved. It didn't work so well, as my ear started bleeding. I stop trying, cleaned my ear and put my other one back in. I have left it in for about a month now. I'm not sure if I should be taking it out and cleaning my ear still... Anyways, I took it out today to put in new earrings and I cleaned my ear. When I went to put my new earring in I felt a lump in my earlobe just below the piercing hole. I of course freaked out and started shaking and getting dizzy. The new earring went in just fine, but its a little shorter then my usual earrings and because of the lump it hardly stuck out the back of my ear. So, I took it out put my other one back in. I'm just wondering why there is a lump in my earlobe. It feels like its almost gone now that my other earring is back in, but it still is there a little. I'm trying not to mess with it, but I don't know what to do. Is it from not taking my earrings out and cleaning my ear? Is it puss build up in my earlobe or something else? Don't clean it too much because that's just as bad as not cleaning it. You should clean it only twice a day. Also it's not bad to rotate it but because it's probably still swollen, then it might be difficult to move it back and forth.You took a big risk by doing it yourself but its only been 12 hours so i wouldn't be too concerned. After a couple days of cleaning and rotating, you can probably move it. I had mine done twice so don't listen to the person that said you shouldn't rotate it. If you don't then it can get stuck and the skin will grow over it and it'll hurt like hell to get it out.

New kitten... So nervous :( Help.?

I just got a cute little blue siberian kitten two days ago. She's very sweet and we're keeping her in one room for now. This is my very first kitten. She was nervous in the beginning but now she's playful. Yet, I just keep feeling so worried and so stressed that I've even begun to cry. When she tries to get up on the leather couches that we have, she ends up scratching them by accident. And We put bed covers over the couches to protect them. And I put foil under the couches so that she doesn't do damage underneath. I also cut up some cardboard to serve as a barrier to prevent her from going behind the TV, since she liked playing with the wires. I did spray some vinegar and bitter apple spray on the couch, wires, and rug. Sometimes she likes to dig her claws into the corners of the couch, bite on pillows, and scratch/bite the rug. And I will firmly say "No" but that hasn't been working, so I pick her up by the scruff of her neck and say no again, and put her on the ground. I find myself doing the same thing when she starts scratching the bottom of the couch. I am trying to teach her to use a scratching post, and i did this by shaking a little toy over it, and she climbed on the post this morning. I gave her a treat and a nice pet when she did. But I keep thinking to myself, "How many times do I have to do this before she learns" I've been keeping watch on her for two days, and I can't even sleep. My mom is buying couch covers for her couches...but we decided that if the scratching becomes a real issue, then we just might have to get her declawed..which makes me even more nervous. I do know that it is a cruel procedure and I really don't want to harm my little kitten...but what else could we do.. I know about nail caps, but I also know that cats like to take them off and if I keep buying those every month, its 15 dollars or so every time, and the declawing might even save money. But i'm nervous about personality changes as well. She will always be an indoor cat, but I also worry about my bird. I'm worried about how to keep her away from it. When we decide to let her explore the house, I might keep my bird in a room that she can't go in. This bird doesn't go out of its cage, so i'm not worried about the cat chasing it around the house while it's flying or anything like that. My main concern is the scratching..I've been so restless and my anxiety has been crazy. :( Any suggestions?

Why can't I drill through wall?

In my garage I am trying to drill a hole, but I can only drill about 1/2" into the wall. Trying to drill any further and what looks like a gray powder comes out of the hole. Puppy ripped my ear lobe?

My 9.5 weeks old Scottish Terrier was playing with his chew toy & suddenly jumped up grabbed my ear lobe and tugged on it, ripping it. I instinctively yelled out (because it hurt like H e l l ), he sat down for a second then lunged for it again! I have tried everything to get this pup to stop biting. When I go to redirect him by handing a Nylabone, etc. he will lunge for my arm, fingers, hands, shirt, anything he can get his teeth into. I tried squirt bottles, pennies in a can, clapping loudly, firmly saying NO, gently squeezing his muzzle, etc. all to no avail. I don't think he's being aggressive, just playing rough and trying to dominate. What can I do to stop this behavior before it gets worse. My husband was so mad when he saw my ear. I need help.

Cat still greedy and selfish at 11 months!?

We got a kitten last august which was 6 weeks old. He was abused. Thrown from heights. Bad diet. Thrown around. He's really lovely and our older cat became his big bro in no time, but he is sooo greedy still. Get him a scratching pole and some toys to play with. It sounds like hes not really naughty but bored and needs something to do, or interact with. Do you play with him? Cats are very social creatures and love to play and interact with people or things. I play with mine. I rescued a yearling stud colt, well I BOUGHT him and his same-aged pasture-mate, two days ago. They are both very underfed, but very good natured. I let them settle for a day, then wormed them with Equimectrin, and they both have passed massive amounts of round worms. Today when I went out, I noticed the smaller of the two's sheath is very swollen. My blackberry curve 8520 keypad has stopped working?

ive had my blackberry for nearly a year now , at first the "a" went, not letting me use it but then putting it randomly into my sentences and ringing the* button. then my alt button stuck but after a few days was fine. all the time my middle button wud play up n i wud have to hold it down quite firmly for it to work. all of a sudden last week the left side of my keypad went with all the numbers on and when i pressed any of them it would type "w", a few hours after this my whole keypad went inclunding my menu,back and ringing button. i have taken the battery out and bk in etc. and it has not worked. now non of the buttons will work but i can scroll up and down. Lump on my dogs upper front leg?

My dog has suddenly developed an odd looking lump on the top of her front right leg. It's odd because it actually looks like a piece of sweetcorn stuck to her. My dogs are playing aggressively with each other?

Anyways, I have a GSD Lab mix puppy named Sam. He is 5 months old (in two days) and around 30 pounds. I recently added a 14 week old lab mix named Marley to my family. She is around 35-40 pounds (I think she is mixed with a mastiff or something LARGE like that). Anyways, they play aggressively with each other and I'm not sure how to get them to stop. Telling them firmly no and pulling them away from each other doesn't seem to be working very well. I also crate them after they get too wild. Marley's teeth are very sharp for her young age. I got my cartilage pierced about 2 months ago with a silver hoop. I was told I had to wait three months before changing it. I will most likely have to go back to the place to get it taken out because I know no way of getting it out without pliers. Why is my puppy so aggressive?

Honey- she is NOT being aggressive - she is playing. All puppies play bite. I have a 5 month old shih tzu maltese mix and he is the best dog we ever had but he get the puppy crazies at times and chases our feet. He does not nip near as often as he did a few months ago and he is getting gentler and minding better. You need to learn to manage a puppy- you should correct, gently but firmly- no smacking. Help her learn the work "no." And you should substitute- she wants to play, so toss a toy for her to catch or we have a stuffed toy tied to a short pole we wiggle around for him so he chases that. Tie a rope on a toy and drag it down the hall. The pup wants motion- not just a toy laying there. Please remember ALL puppies want to play bite in the beginning and there is no shortcut way to turn a pup into a grown up. She will act like a puppy for a year. It is not her breed or aggression or wickedness or anything else - she is just being a puppy. She will calm down as she grows and as you work with her. Good luck. I love this mix. Our dog is very smart, very sweet, very playful and I bet your dog will be too if you keep working with her.

I've tried firmly saying no, swatting her lightly when she chews at night and I catch it. I've tried redirection to toys - we spend at least a hundred dollars a month on puppy chew toys that she just destroys right away. So I bought one that's supposed to be indestructible, but she doesn't chew it for long because she can't tear it apart so she moves on to something new. I lock her in the main kitchen/dining area but she just chews on furniture now. How can I get this to stop? Ear Piercing Allergy- What do I do?

I am soon going to get my ears pierced. For the third time. The first time, I got my ears pierced at Claires with 14k gold posts stamped 14k on the actual post (yes I can read that small). After a few days, the holes started leaking this nasty yellow pus, and my mom put alcohol on them and nothing helped so we took the earrings out amd the holes closed over. I have been cleaning my ears twice a day during that time, and I did not touch my ears. A few years later, I got them pierced again, with gold plated studs. Same story. I really really want my ears pierced. My grandmother sent me 4 pairs of 14-18k gold earrings, and I want to wear them. I'll be fine once my holes heal. I don't know what earrings to try when getting my ears pierced though! I don't want to re-pierce again. My mom suggested that she pierce my ears herself with a sterilized needle and thread floss through like people did in her native Ukraine, but I don't know! Any suggestions?

I'd say the piercing. Piercings give you more option to play around with what style you want to put on while tattoos are permanent and hurt like hell to get, not to mention it's more expensive. Also, if you ever grow out of tattoo and want it removed, it hurts even more to have it removed and will leave a scar. It can take hours to get a tattoo too.
