I think my nose piercing is infected, but I have to take it out? HELP ASAP.?

I got my nose pierced about a month ago. This morning, I realized a small bump on the side of the stud. I've cleaned it thoroughly 2 times so far today. The problem is, I have to take it out for my new job... But I've been reading so many things about how it will get infected and spread to my brain, blah blah. Is this true? I have no choice but to take it out....So, should I be worried about this infection or what?
