Whydid my pokemon red crash?

well I haven't played it in a long time so I just played it and since I finished the game I decided to beat the elite four again so what happened was I was battling lorelei and then she was about to send her lapras then the game froze like If you went to glitch city and swam ahead and it crashes or if you touch those badge things.
